Indoor water park opening pushed back again


ALBUQUERQUE S FIRST INDOOR WATER PARK -- WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OPEN BY NOW FIRST THE CONSTRUCTION WAS DELAYED BY RED TAPE TONIGHT WE VE LEARNED THE ECONOMY IS SLOWING EVERYTHING DOWN ANTOINETTE ANTONIO IS LIVE AT THE PARK NEAR I-40 AND CARLISLE TO TELL US WHEN IT COULD FINALLY OPEN -- ANTOINETTE THE PROJECT DEVELOPER FOR THE RADISSON HOTEL S WATER PARK SAYS THE WORK IS ABOUT 85-PERCENT COMPLETE THE NEW TARGET OPENING DATE -- THIS COMING JUNE THAT S TWO YEARS BEHIND SCHEDULE QUICK NATS QUICK NATS QUICK NATS DIRT HAS BEEN MOVING AT THIS CONSTRUCTION SITE NEAR CARLISLE AND I-40 FOR A FEW YEARS BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ALBUQUERQUE COULD FINALLY SEE ITS FIRST INDOOR WATER PARK THIS SUMMER i know we ve talked about being open several time and previous dates and we haven t quite met that benchmark but first and foremost we wanna get it done right and we want to make sure safety is taken care of DEVELOPER DAN SERRANO GAVE US AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE PROGRESS SO FAR THE WATER SLIDES ARE DONE AND THE LAZY RIVER IS CARVED OUT you can come off the water slide you can get in it just get on a tube float around and get wet BUT THE FOUR SWIMMING POOLS AND WAVE MACHINE AREA FOR INDOOR SURFING STILL HAVE A WAYS TO GO THE LATEST HOLD UP IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE 22-MILLION DOLLAR WATER PARK -- THE SLOWING ECONOMY we ve had a lot of subcontractors we ve had many suppliers and others throughout the nation that are involved with this project and they ve been impacted in their own regions with the economy AND WHILE SERRANO HOPES IT S THE LAST HOLD UP FOR THE PROJECT HE SAYS THE INDOOR WATER PARK SHOULD BE WORTH THE WAIT its just mass chaos of people getting wet a lot of fun THE WATER PARK WILL ONLY BE FOR HOTEL GUESTS -- BECAUSE OF PERMIT ISSUES WITH THE CITY BUT SERRANO SAYS DEPENDING ON THE POPULARITY IT COULD EVENTUALLY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC LIVE NEAR CARLISLE AND I-40 AA EWN4 PRESIDENT OBAMA
