Counselors helping students after teen’s death

a 15-year-old Manzano High student dies after allegedly performing a stunt– car surfing or riding on top of a moving car– in a neighborhood near tramway and lomas the name of the driver– is being withheld– pending an investigation officials with a-p-s say they re doing everything they can for grieving students they ve enacted their crisis team today austin reed is live from a-p-s headquarters to tell us what that is and how it helps in our top story austin the cris team has been around for at least 10 years they re a group of a-p-s employees that have experience in dealing with tramatic situations for the next two days three to four district social workers and psychologists will be at manzano high school where gonzales attended school they ll also be at apache elementary school that s where the teen s mom works as an educationa assistant the cris team will be set up in private rooms throughout both schools what we do is what we call psychological first aid trying to asses the situation talking to students and staffthe goal is to see if the kids can maintain in school or if we need to refer out and they need to go home the school district is urging students to take advantage of these services on site counslers and teachers are also trained to help and talk with students about this
